What is SilentAuth PoP?

SilentAuth PoP is a library to enable proximity based secure peer-to-peer communication. It is designed to support NFC-like fast data transfer between two COTS devices (smartphones, POS terminals, and custom hardware) without extra-hardware requirements. SilentAuth PoP gives particular emphasis on making the customer's experience safe and seamless.

How does it work?

SilentAuth PoP fundamentally exploits sensors in the phone, acoustic and wireless/radio-frequency cards to enable seamless proof of being in same space. Inherently there are two basic blocks:

• Trigger: The trigger to initiate the protocol supports both automatic and manual modes.

• Proximity Verification and secure data communication: Post the trigger, a local channel is established using a fusion of sound and wireless waves between two devices. The communication modules support both:

  • one directional communication (acknwoledgement over the internet), and

  • bi-directional communication (fully offline mode with acknwoledgement through the local channel).
